Here are my top 5 remedies I recommend for nearly every household. These are the ones I never travel without, and the ones I reach for again and again in clinic and at home.
1. Aconite
For: Sudden fevers, shock, or fright
Aconite is the remedy you want for the very beginning of something - especially when symptoms come on suddenly, after getting cold, being out in the wind, or after a scare. Think: midnight fevers, a fright from bad news, or a child waking panicked after a nightmare.
Best used within the first 24 hours of symptoms showing up.
2. Arnica
For: Bumps, bruises, injuries, and overexertion
Every family needs Arnica. It’s the first remedy to think of after a fall, knock, or strain. It helps reduce bruising, swelling, and shock after physical trauma - from kids banging into furniture, to a parent waking sore after gardening.
Also great after dental work or surgery to support healing.
3. Belladonna
For: Sudden high fevers, headaches, or throbbing pain
Belladonna suits those intense, red, hot states - think flushed cheeks, glassy eyes, throbbing headaches, or fevers that spike quickly (often without sweating). There’s often a hypersensitivity to light, touch, or noise.
